Philippine Government Evacuates
99 Filipinos from Yemen

(Jizan, 5 April 2015) – The Crisis Management Team (CMT), led by Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ezzedin Tago, along with officials and personnel from the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah, successfully evacuated 99 Filipino nationals. Of these, 54 were males, 43 female and two infants.
The group travelled on a convoy of two buses. They left the western Yemeni city of Hodeidah at 07.00 hrs this morning and arrived at the Tuwal border crossing of Saudi Arabia at 11.00 hrs also this morning. The journey was generally safe even though the group had to pass through several checkpoints along the 215 kilometer route.
Embassy and consulate personnel are now assisting the evacuees in Jizan, providing them food and accommodations, as well as arranging their onward air travel to the Philippines.
The CMT will again undertake another land evacuation tomorrow, 6 April 2015, from the capital city of Sana’a via Hodeidah.
Filipinos who are still undecided about leaving the country are strongly urged to do so and join the land evacuation tomorrow by contacting CMT personnel in Movenpick Hotel Sana’a thru the following:

Philippine Ambassador Meets Filipinos in Sana'a and
Aden in Yemen on Raising of Alert Level
Embassy officials led by Amb. Tago meet with the Filipino Community in Aden, 17 October 2014
Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Yemen Ezzedin H. Tago met with the Filipino community in Aden and Sana’a on 17 October and 20 October 2014, respectively.
Philippine Ambassador Ezzedin Tago, Honorary Consul Mohamad Al-Jamal and Consul Jennifer Dingal meet the community coordinators in Sana’a on 20 October 2014.
In both meetings, Ambassador Tago provided the Filipino community updates on the current political and security situation in Yemen, and strongly urged the community to help the Embassy to urge Filipinos to assess their personal security situation in view of the current situation in Yemen and the raising of the alert level for Yemen from 2 to Alert Level 3 (Voluntary Repatriation).

During the meetings, Ambassador Tago stressed the following:
- Filipinos in Yemen must make a personal assessment of their circumstances vis-à-vis the current situation in Yemen, and take positive steps towards avoiding situations that could endanger their safety and security.
- They must be prepared to leave Yemen anytime: Their passports must be valid and in their possession, ensure they have legal residence and have an exit or exit/re-entry visa, have enough cash to purchase a ticket and other incidental expenses.
- They must ensure that their employer contracts comply with Philippine and Yemeni standards, and contain clauses that allow their immediate repatriation in emergency cases.
- They must coordinate with their employers for their repatriation to the Philippines.
- They must be in constant communication with the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh PE, the Philippine Honorary Consul in Yemen and the community coordinators.
- They should immediately register online at the Embassy’s website or update their registration (www.riyadhpe.dfa.gov.ph). Filipinos are requested to include a valid cellphone number, as the Embassy will send SMS advisories through these numbers.
- They must consider leaving Yemen as early as possible before the situation deteriorates further.

Philippine Ambassador Meets Yemeni Deputy Foreign Minister and other officials
Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Yemen Mr Ezzedin Tago met with officials from the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Yemeni capital Sana’a on 24 September 2014, led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Amb. Amir Aidroos (right in the photo)
During the meeting, the two officials discussed the current situation in Yemen and bilateral relations between the two countries including several pending agreements that are mutually beneficial to both countries.
Ambassador Tago also met with H.E. Amb. Abdullah Montasser, the Director General for Asia and Pacific and H.E. Amb Abdul Malik Al-Eryani, the Chief of Protocol.
Ambassador Tago was joined by Second Secretary Mary Jennifer Dingal and Honorary Consul in Sana’a Mr. Mohamad Al-Jamal.

Philippine Ambassador Meets Senior Adviser to the UN Special Envoy for Yemen

On 25 September 2014 in Sana’a, Yemen, the Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Yemen Mr. Ezzedin Tago met with Mr. Abderahim Sabir, the Senior Political Adviser of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Mr. Jamal Benomar.
Philippine Ambassador Ezzedin Tago received a briefing from the UN Special Envoy’s adviser on the the recently signed Peace and Partnership Agreement signed in Sana’a which was facilitated by the UN Special Envoy Jamal Benomar. They also discussed the current political and security situation in Yemen.
There are currently 691 Filipinos in Yemen as registered on the Embassy database. The Embassy urges all Filipinos in Yemen to register on the Embassy website (www.riyadhpe.dfa.gov.ph) regardless of their status in Yemen.

Philippine Embassy Meets Filipino Community in Sana’a, Yemen and Conducts Consular Services
The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, led by Ambassador Ezzedin Tago, visited Yemen with a team composed of Consul Mary Jennifer Dingal and Attache Noly Dulay and Melchor Balladolid starting on 23 September 2014.
During the visit, the Embassy team extended consular services including passport encoding, notary services for various legal documents, and received reports of marriage and births. After two days in Sana’, the team received 67 applications.
Ambassador Ezzedin Tago also met with The Filipino Community in Yemen (TFCY) and conducted the oath of the new set of officers of TFCY - the only community organisation in Sana’a, Yemen.
There are currently 691 Filipinos who are registered with the Embassy online database, and the Embassy urges all Filipinos in Yemen to access the Embassy website (www.riyadhpe.dfa.gov.ph) and register and provide complete all the requested information on the online forms.
