Advisory:

Passport Application and Appointment System

(Riyadh, 12 January 2017) – The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would like to reiterate to the Filipino community its guidelines in applying for a Philippine passport and its implementation of the Passport Appointment System, in accordance with the policies of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Passport Appointment System

The Passport Appointment System is being implemented to further systematize the procedures in applying for a Philippine passport. It ensures and guarantees that passport applicants will be prioritized and served.

Applications for replacement of a lost passport, passports with mutilation (defaced, torn pages, and other physical alterations, etc.), and passports issued with discrepancies in the personal details of the holder and other similar cases are categorized as irregular applications requiring special assessment and evaluation. These kinds of applications can be accommodated but will take considerable time to process as careful evaluation and determination of the applicant's current citizenship, identity and personal particulars will have to be undertaken with reference to existing government records.

The following passport applicants are exempted from the Appointment System:

  1. Infants who are aged six (6) months and below;
  2. Pregnant women;
  3. Senior citizens who are aged 60 years old and above;
  4. Physically-challenged applicants; and,
  5. Applicants whose passports have been declared lost, damaged or mutilated.

Applicants for passport renewal will be accommodated based on their previously obtained appointment.

Applicants must personally secure/book an appointment thru the Embassy’s official website at: riyadhpe.dfa.gov.ph by using their own e-mail address. A confirmation of an applicant’s appointment will be sent to the same email used in securing/booking an appointment.

Only one (1) appointment booking per applicant is allowed, otherwise, all bookings made under the same name or email address will be invalidated. Appointments made under an alias or fictitious name will also be invalidated.

Passport applicants outside Riyadh should avail of the Embassy’s consular outreach services. Passport appointments for consular outreach services or “Embassy on Wheels” (EOW) will be made available five (5) days before the actual schedule.

All passport applicants must also bring their old passport and a photocopy of their passport’s data page as well as the passport appointment confirmation. Passport application fee for renewal is SR240.00.

The Embassy may accommodate walk-in passport applicants who have an urgent need to apply for a passport because of an emergency situation, but this will only be on a case-to-case basis. The Embassy, however, does not encourage walk-ins and reiterates the need for passport applicants to book an appointment.

Passport Production and Release

The Embassy functions only as a Biometric Data Capturing Site for passport applications. The production and printing of all Philippine passports is done in the Philippines.

All applications are subjected to records confirmation and biometric data verification to preserve the integrity of the Philippine passport and protect the citizen from fraud and identity theft. For applications lodged at the Embassy and are cleared by the system, kindly allow for at least thirty (30) to forty-five (45) working days for passport production and release on account of international shipping and transportation logistics.
