(Riyadh, 26 August  2015) The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh celebrated the Buwan ng Wika and Araw ng mga Bayani with a program on 26 August 2015 at the Embassy premises.

With a theme: “Ang mga Bayani sa Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas”, the program kicked-off with Welcome Remarks by First Secretary and Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal.  Social Services Attache Perlita Panganiban then retold the famous story by Dr. Jose P. Rizal entitled “Ang Lampara at Ang Gamu-Gamo” before a select group of children. This was followed by a choral recitation and interpretative dance entitled “Ako’y Pilipino” performed by children of Embassy personnel.

Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago capped the commemorations activities with a very inspiring message to the guests, students, teachers and parents who attended the program. In his brief remarks, the Ambassador underscored that what was equally valuable, aside from knowing important dates and events in Philippine history or being able to speak Filipino fluently, is for everyone to recognize and take to heart that the diversity of cultures and languages among Filipinos is in fact a strength that binds us closer as a people.
