FILIPINO PHOTOGRAPHERS WIN IN THE
“COLORS OF SAUDI ARABIA 2015”
PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

(Riyadh, 15 December 2015) – During the 4th Session of the Colors of Saudi Arabia Forum 2015, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh proudly announces that two (2) Filipinos won for their photographs during the awarding ceremony which was held on 13 December 2015 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC) at King Abdullah Road, Exit 10 in Riyadh.

Mr. Herbert Bagolbagol, who won 1st Prize in the Smart Phone Category in 2014, won 2nd Prize in the Colors of Qassim Category this year with his entry entitled “ Al Khabra Old Village” which was taken early this year in Qassim, Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, Mr. Alvin Purification also won 4th Prize in the Eco Tourism Category with his entry entitled “Khobar Bahrain Bridge” taken in 2014 in the Eastern Province where he is currently residing.

As part of its objective to further promote tourism in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Commission on Tourism and Cultural Heritage (SCTH) organizes the Colors of Saudi Arabia Forum 2015 to highlight the rich cultural and natural diversity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through exhibition of photographs and videos taken by different nationalities, including Saudi citizens, in the Kingdom.

In addition, photos submitted by the Philippine Embassy personnel were also chosen by the SCTA to be part of the special section called “Saudi Arabia through International Eyes” wherein personnel from the different embassies accredited in the Kingdom were given the opportunity to display their photos taken during their stay in the Kingdom. Entry photos selected were: “Crossroads” submitted by First Secretary and Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal, “Rocks and Pathways” submitted by Cultural Officer Gloria Jean Castaño – Zafra and “Stairways” submitted by Attache Jefferson Talam.

Other entries selected were those submitted by Ms. Lucena Magpantay, “By the Towers” and “Side by Side” and Ms. Vanessa Severino for her four (4) entries, “Al Heet Cave”, “Sunrise@the Edge of the World”, “Ushaiger Heritage Village” and “Warm Host@Ushaiger Village”.

The Embassy wishes to congratulate all Filipino winners in this year’s contest and encourages all Filipino community in the Kingdom to visit the forum and see the photos of Filipino photographers and experience the beauty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the photographs and short films exhibited in the forum.

The Colors of Saudi Arabia Forum 2015 is open from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm from Sunday, 13 December 2015 until Saturday, 19 December 2015. (END)
