Philippine Embassy Celebrates the
2016 National Women’s Month
(Riyadh, 28 March 2016) – In celebration of the 2016 National Women’s Month, a Gender and Development Forum was organized by the Philippine Embassy held at the International Philippine School in Riyadh (IPSR) on 27 March 2016.
The event was attended by school administrators, faculty, administrative staff, parents, and students of the various Philippine-curriculum schools in Riyadh.
First Secretary and Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal gave a lecture based on this year’s National Women’s Month theme, “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda” which resonates the call for gender-balance in leadership and decision making positions both in public and private sector; inclusion of women’s concerns in leadership platforms and the government’s development agenda; and capacitating and preparing women and girls to reach their ambitions.

Social Welfare Attaché, Ms. Perlita V. Panganiban, on the other hand, gave a lecture on “Kapakanan at Karapatan ni Juanang may Kapansanan, Isama sa Agenda”, where she discussed the rights and privileges of persons with disabilities, particularly in giving them access to quality education; equal opportunity for employment; and the ways they should be treated.

IPSR Chief of Student Affairs, Ms. Janet J. Cruz delivered a lecture on, “Edukasyon ni Juana para sa Paghahanda ng Kinabukasan” where she underscored the important role of education in building a progressive society where women’s education is vital as they share equal responsibility with men.
