Philippines Participates in the
4th Al Khafji Festival

(Riyadh, 03 April 2016) – The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, in cooperation with the Filipino community in Al Khafji, participated in the 4th Al Khafji Festival which took place from 10 March to 19 March 2016 at the Al Khafji Corniche.

This is the first time that the Philippines participated in the event. The Al Khafji festival is an annual festival organized by the Municipality of Al Khafji to promote trade and tourism in the area. Aside from Saudi Arabia, there were other countries, including the Philippines, were invited to participate in the said event.

The Philippine exhibit area was decorated with various native handicrafts from the Philippines. Tourism brochures and promotional giveaways were also distributed to the visitors. Also presented during the event were various Filipino products and delicacies.

There were also live performances from the organizers to the delight of the visitors, especially the children.

Mr. Sattam Al-Balawi, Director of the Al Khafji Festival expressed his appreciation to the Philippine Embassy and the Filipino community in Al Khafji for our participation in the festival and that he looks forward to the Philippines’ participation every year.

The Philippines’ regular participation in the event will provide an excellent venue for the Philippines to promote its culture and tourism in the northern part of Saudi Arabia.
