PHL Tourism Officials Promote Tourism
Investment Opportunities to Saudi Businesses

(Riyadh, 24 April 2014) – PHL tourism representatives recently met with the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) in an effort to promote tourism investment opportunities to Saudi business.

The delegation, which was led by Chief Tourism Operations Officer Mr. Raymond Glen Agustin of the Department of Tourism (DOT), met with CSC National Tourism Committee Chairman Mohammed Al Mojel in Riyadh on 16 April 2014. The delegation included DOT’s marketing representative for the Middle East, AVIAREPS, and Shangri-La Hotel’s Middle East representative.

The group informed Chairman Al-Mojel of the Philippine Government’s thrust to increase awareness of the Philippines as a top-quality tourism destination among Saudi tourists through more visible marketing on print and electronic media, and collaborating on attractive tour packages with local travel agencies and airlines.

For his part, Chairman Al-Mojel urged the delegation to focus on promoting the Philippines as a family-friendly destination, with a preference for attractions in the provinces.

Participation in the 2014 Riyadh Travel Fair, which was held at the Kingdom Tower’s Four Seasons Hotel on 15-18 April 2014.

At the fair, the delegation was able to meet with Mr. Hussain Bin Mushayt, Tourism Department Manager of the Riyadh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), and discussed the DOT’s promotion plans in Riyadh and the Eastern Province.

Mr. Mushayt expressed his “excitement” about the intensified PHL tourism promotion in the Kingdom, and pledged that the RCCI will cooperate and assist the Philippines on its promotion efforts in Riyadh. (END)
