(Riyadh, 19 June 2017) The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh celebrated the 119th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence on 12 June 2017 at the Philippine Embassy Chancery with Charge d’ Affaires, a.i. Iric C. Arribas leading the flag raising ceremony at the Liwasang Bonifacio Grounds together with the Officers and personnel of the Philippine Embassy.

During the short program, Charge d’ Affaires, a.i. Iric C. Arribas read the Message from President Rodrigo R. Duterte, which reminds us to take inspiration from our forebears who valiantly fought and offered their lives so that we may have the liberties that we enjoy today.

First Secretary and Consul Christopher Patrick T. Aro thereafter read the Message from the Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alan Peter Schrumm Cayetano, which urges us all to join hands in our commitment to value the sanctity of freedom and the spirit of democracy.

First Secretary and Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal read the Message from the Secretary of Trade and Industry Ramon M. Lopez, which relays the economic programs of the current administration aiming to bring shared prosperity for all Filipinos.

Newly-arrived Labor Attaché Nasser S. Mustafa also read the Message from the Secretary of Labor and Employment Silvestre H. Bello III, which calls upon all of us to stand as one nation to realize our vision that no Filipino will have to seek overseas work as a matter of compulsion or necessity.

The celebration also included the opening of the Hagod Art Exhibit, an art exhibition of the talented Filipino visual artists of Riyadh and the performances of various Filipino cultural groups showcasing different eras of Filipino history through dance, song and pageantry of Filipino costumes.
