Invitation to Participate to the Call for Curatorial
Proposals for the Philippine Participation at the
16th Venice Architectural Biennale 2018
(Riyadh, 5 July 2017) – The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh wishes to inform the Filipino community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Opening of the Call for Curatorial Proposals for the Philippine participation to the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale 2018. The event is being initiated by la Fondazione la Biennale di Venezia.
The search is spearheaded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) headed by Chairman Virgilio S. Almario, who also serves as the Commissioner of the Philippine Pavilion, in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Office of Senator Loren Legarda.
The CALL is open to proposals by a single curator or by a team of two curators, specifically Filipino citizens who are architects, curators, practicing artists from different disciplines, urban planners, ecological activists, geographers, historians and critics of space, heritage workers and others.
The selected curatorial proposal will be submitted as the Philippines’ official representative to the said global exhibition at the ancient Artiglierie building in Arsenale, the major venue of the Venice Biennale located in Venice, Italy.
