DAGDAG KAALAMAN PARA KAY KABAYAN GOES TO HA’IL

(24 November 2017) Representatives from the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO)- Riyadh, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration- Riyadh Office. Social Security System (SSS), Landbank of the Philippines and, Home Development Mutual (Pag-ibig) Fund went to Ha’il to provide information to almost 300 Filipinos on the services offered by these government agencies to the OFWs.

The team leader, Consul General Iric Arribas, in his message to the OFWS in Ha’il, encouraged the participants to the information drive to acquire the habit of saving and investing for their future as well as for their families. “Our work in Saudi Arabia is never permanent. We might find ourselves in a situation that we suddenly have to return to the Philippines, whether we like it or not. It is therefore important to be financially ready when that time comes, for our sake and for the sake of our loved ones”, he said.

SSS representative Danny Calape and Pag-ibig representative Mr. Renato Soqueno, emphasized to the participants the benefits of continuing their membership to SSS and Pag-ibig. Mr. Aryiel Castor of Landbank of the Philippines presented its OFW’s Reintegration Program.

There was also free medical consultation for the participants offered by Al Safa Medical Complex in Hail.

Consul General Arribas also introduced Assistant Labor Attaché Angel L. Borja, the newly installed DOLE official who will look into the labor-related concerns of the OFW in the Central Region of Buraidha, Ha’il and Sakaka as well as in the Northern Border Region. Assistant Labor Attaché Borja was accompanied by OWWA officials who accepted requests for assistance from a few OFWs present during the seminar.

The information drive was organized in cooperation with various Filipino organizations in Ha’il including the Eagles United Guardians International Inc (EUGII) in Ha’il, G.I. 19th W.A. INC. (Delta Chapter), Organization of Maranaos in Hail, Patnubay Online, Hail Filipino Sports Club International (HFSC) and COMSOFIL.

The information drive is part of the Philippine Embassy’s effort of empowering the OFWs in the Kingdom through information dissemination on various topics through its program called “DAGDAG KAALAMAN PARA KAY KABAYAN”.
